Chiquita banana

¡Dáme un banano!
es en Centroamérica, y ¡es lleno de Mexicanos!

Honduras is a little country in Central America, most notable for its banana exports, for being the site of a number of CIA-led coups, and for their national sport of attacking neighbouring El Salvador.

Honduras in the NewsEdit

It's MINE, I tell you! I won it fair and square!

Recently, Honduras has been in the news because of a fresh military coup (surprise!) where President Manuel Zelaya was removed by his own troops at gunpoint and exported to neighbouring Costa Rica for the purpose of exilation. It gets complicated at this point, because both Zelaya and his US-Sponsored replacement claim to be the rightful president, and the army is currently supporting the plant. This all revolves around some foolishness about the CIA stuffing ballot boxes prior to a referendum on whether Zelaya can ask the people if they want him to modify the constitution to say he can run for a second term as president, but only if the people want him to.

Now, a number of leaders and allies of Hugo Chavez, Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton included, are calling for Honduras to respect Zelaya's mandate, at least until the next elections in November. This would mark the first time that the United States has ever agreed with Venezuela, and is surely a sign of the impending apocalypse.

... well that military junta of a government that is there, even though it doesn't show its face, would be entering a state of war, a de facto state of war. We would have to act, even militarily, we are obligated to do so....To allow people to participate and decide the future of their country through their vote, it is not possible that some groups ignore this, including the military. This is a discredit to the armed forces, who democratically participate in the decisions that the people of each country take. We no longer live under dictatorships. Those will continue to fail. What is currently happening in Honduras is an adventure of a group of the military who have assaulted democracy. Thus they will fail.

The action taken against Honduran President Manuel Zelaya violates the precepts of the Inter-American Democratic Charter and thus should be condemned by all. We call on all parties in Honduras to respect the constitutional order and the rule of law, to reaffirm their democratic vocation and to commit themselves to resolve political disputes peacefully and through dialogue.
